Leading Care in Scotland - from humble beginnings...
Back in 1991, Our founder, Tony Banks, recognised that there was a woeful absence of superior residential care provision in North East Scotland. He had actually identified two main issues.
That the number of good care facilities available in the region was limited (and even then unlikely to meet the needs of a growing, ageing population) and...
That the standards in the majority of homes were well below normal expectations or tolerances.
Tony decided this was an excellent opportunity to fill the void by opening a residential care home that provided undisputed excellence by way of the facility itself, the staff it employs, the management ethics, and most importantly the level of genuine care that would aim to meet the expectations of the most demanding resident or family member.
The first care home opened, "Balhousie Lisden", is still one of Balhousie Care Group's finest homes, nestled away in the peaceful countryside setting of Kirriemuir (birthplace of the legendary Peter Pan author J.M Barrie). Since the opening of "Balhousie Lisden" Care Home, the Group has grown (either through acquisition or by new build) by 20 homes, bringing the residential capacity to 725 residents.
The driving philosophy behind all Balhousie Care homes ensures that Tony's dream and ambitions are present in all Balhousie Care homes - and provides a constant reminder of the principals that drove Balhousie Care then - and continue to be part of everyday life here today!
