The children of Scallywags Children’s Nursery in Carnoustie, have had lots of fun with a Clown balloon sculpture which formed part of the decoration at the Hilton Hotel on the night of Balhousie Care Group’s Charity Ball, ‘The Circus’. Nursery owner, Jacquie Mitchell, made a kind donation for the sculpture on the night of the event to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

Balhousie Dalnaglar and Rigifa Care Homes, Methven hosted a very successful Community Concert in the Methven Church Hall on Wednesday 11^th March. With entertainment including acts from The John Scrimgeour Singers, and The Jambouree Entertainers, over 150 members of the local community attended concert. A raffle from the event is to be drawn by the end of March and it is hoped that the event will raise a final total of £1,000.00 – the proceeds of which are to be shared amongst Balhousie Resident's Comfort Fund, Methven Church Hall, and the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). Marie Farquharson, Home Manager extended her thanks to the Methven community for their support and attendance at the event.

Residents and staff at Balhousie Care Group are enthusiastically continuing with their fundraising efforts for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) – our nominated charity for 2008/09.

Many fundraising activities, both big and small, have taken place at each Balhousie care home resulting in plenty of fun and a great deal of kindness between Balhousie staff, residents and the local communities. Balhousie events for CHAS have included a ‘Sponsored Silence’ at Balhousie Dalnaglar, Crieff, a ‘Polish Night’ at Balhousie North Inch, Perth, a ‘Prize Bingo Tea’ at Balhousie Rigifa, Methven, and a ‘Sponsored Cycle’ from Inverness to Perth with Balhousie Luncarty, Luncarty – and the list goes on!

Tony Banks, Managing Director of Balhousie Care Group commented, ‘We are delighted at the fundraising effort put in by our staff and the support that this worthwhile cause (CHAS) receives from our residents and the wider community.’

The charity year for 2008/2009 will come to an end on 30 April 2009, when a cheque for the total funds raised by Balhousie Care Group will be presented to Children’s Hospice Association Scotland.

We have been inundated with donations, and tables are selling fast. Balhousie Care Group are to host a charity ball at the Hilton Dundee on Friday 20^th March to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

The event will run with a circus theme and will include entertainment from the fabulous seven piece band “InSoul”. There will also be a magician and a circus artiste to amaze guests. A limited number of tables are available for this exciting event which promises to be a memorable night for all.

The residents and staff of Balhousie Dalnaglar Crieff Care Home invited their neighbours and friends to join them for Christmas Afternoon Tea at the Blue Skyes Coffee Shop, Crieff on Wednesday 17^th December. Attendees from Balhousie Dalnaglar Crieff, Crieff Hospital, Blesma Care Home, relatives and staff members enjoyed the traditional sounds and flavours of Christmas.

Christmas Carols were sung by P7 pupils of Crieff Primary School. A raffle held at the event raised a total of £96 for CHAS (Balhousie Care Group’s nominated charity for 2008/09).

A sponsored hair cut was held at Balhousie Moyness Care Home, Broughty Ferry on Tuesday 16^th December to raise funds for the Balhousie Moyness Residents’ Comfort Fund and CHAS (Balhousie Care Group’s nominated charity for 2008/09). The fundraising event was a family affair as Home Manager, Margaret Quinn’s son and grandson, volunteered to take part in the sponsored hair cut and raised over £125.00. The total amount raised will be divided between the two beneficiaries.

A fundraising day was held at Balhousie Antiquary Care Home, Arbroath on Saturday 11^th October 2008 with proceeds going to the Balhousie Antiquary Residents Comfort Fund and CHAS (Balhousie Care Group’s nominated charity for 2008/09). The day began with a sponsored Bike Ride (or optional Walk) from Arbroath to Muirdrum on Saturday morning, with residents, staff and friends all taking part. In the afternoon, an Open Day was held at Balhousie Antiquary, which welcomed visitors and the returning participants of the fundraising walk/cycle. Residents, staff and friends enjoyed music, dancing and a raffle.

Pink was the order of the day at Balhousie Alastrean Care Home, Tarland on Friday 24^th October. Staff and residents were invited to wear something pink for the day and donate £2 to Breast Cancer Awareness and CHAS (Balhousie Care Group’s nominated charity for 2008/9).

On Friday 24^th October, Balhousie Lisden Care Home, Kirriemuir held a Silent Auction for charity. This event was followed by a fundraising ‘Pink Day’ on Tuesday 28^th October, which staff, residents and relatives of Balhousie Lisden were invited to donate £2 to wear something pink for the day. A combined total from both the Silent Auction and the Pink Day amounted to the sum of £107.00 being raised for CHAS (Balhousie Care Group’s nominated charity for 2008/09).
