Residents, staff and relatives had a great afternoon on Sunday with a mandala design colouring competition.

A selection of nibbles and a choice of soft and not so soft drinks were enjoyed.

Nicole Pirie, Shift Leader commented;

"Every single person who came along to the competition, including staff & relatives, got really competitive and stuck in which was afa fine to see!"

Winners of the competition were as follows;

1st Liz McLaren

2nd Penny Drummond

3rd Cathy Seivwright

According to Martina Trejo from 'Color It', the top 7 benefits of coloring for adults are;

  • Your brain experiences relief by entering a meditative state
  • Stress and anxiety levels have the potential to be lowered
  • Negative thoughts are expelled as you take in positivity
  • Focusing on the present helps you achieve mindfulness
  • Unplugging from technology promotes creation over consumption
  • Coloring can be done by anyone, not just artists or creative types
  • It’s a hobby that can be taken with you wherever you are

Colouring activities are a popular part of our weekly activity programme here at Huntly. We include various artworks regularly to tie in with seasons, celebrations and events throughout the year.
