Today we had Thinking Day Service in the home for our residents.

The service, which was conducted by local church members and regular visitors to our home, Liz and Avril.  It included renewing the Brownie promise, singing camp fire songs, and lots of happy discussion and meaningful conversation.

Former Girl Guide Doris led us in renewing our promise, and also brought in a wonderful visual display which included interesting artefacts such as of past uniforms, camping blankets and flags.

Residents and staff shared stories from their own involvement with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.  Many reminisced about happy days and experiences they had from these times.

Thinking Day is the birthday of Lord & Lady Baden-Powell, founder members of the Guiding movement which started 1926 and involves over 150 countries worldwide.

With lots of our residents and staff having contributed to many years either as Guiders, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, it was so good to hear different stories and how things have changed through the years to present day.
