On 1st June 2017 Wheatland's Care Home had a wonderful Purple Party to raise awareness for Alzhiemers Scotland.

Lounge and public areas were suitably decorated with purple bunting, balloons and home made alzheimers flags.

Residents and staff also dressed in purple for the day to continue the theme.
Dr Deuchar, well know to the residents in his professional capacity, delighted us all by arriving in his full kilted uniform complete with bagpipes and gave us a rousing rendition of scottish favourites that set the tone for our afternoon party. Next up was Deborah Ann King who ably put together a playlist of favourites from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.Our residents needed little encouragement to clap their hands and sing along while others strutted their stuff on the dance floor!

After our party time a delicious buffet was prepared by our kitchen staff while the parties continued into the evening.Everyone agreed that they had had a wonderfull time and that a diagnosis of dementia need not deter folks from carrying on and enjoying life to the full!
