Balhousie Care Group opened its door to their first care home in Kirriemuir in April 1992. Since then, Balhousie has been on a journey which has seen growth, expansion, learning and development. We’re proud to stand here, quarter of a century later with the heritage, the people and the partners that make our organisation something to be proud of.

In 2016 alone, the people in our homes delivered: 16 million hours of care; made 2.5 million cups of tea/coffee; cleaned 323,000 bedrooms; served 969,000 meals; 34,840 hours of activity and over 178,000 hours of nursing care.

This year Balhousie Care Group celebrates its 25th birthday and what better way to do this than to include our friends, families, colleagues, residents, partners and all those involved in our homes to celebrate our achievement. For this we have a summer full of inclusive activities planned and we want everyone to get involved.

Our heritage, our people, our partners

We’ll be recognising and rewarding staff through our peer nomination scheme which sees colleagues recognised for their values, support and hard work. In addition to this, we want to work together to raise money for our charity partner, Alzheimer Scotland to support the great work they do for residents living with dementia.

For this, we’ve challenged our homes to undertake various challenges to help us raise £25,000 to donate to Alzheimer Scotland. So far, we been overwhelmed with the creative approach our homes have undertaken, there’s been: 25 mile hikes, zip lining, resident walks, sponsored slimming, sponsored swims, fun days, garden parties and much more organised. We’d invite all members of our communities to come along and join us for these fun filled activities.

We’re also working with our suppliers to support our homes to put on birthday parties for residents to enjoy. On the same day, at the same time, we’ll throw 25 birthday parties.

The next 25 year...

Our activities are a chance to celebrate our achievements, however it’s also an opportunity to look forward at what the future holds for Balhousie Care. It’s something that excites us and although the market and industry may change, we’ll continue to focus on the three that matter: quality, our people and our residents.

The way we deliver care may change but our purpose will remain the same:

To inspire and enable people to live their lives, their way.

Be part of something great!
