Balhousie Care Group celebrates its 25th anniversary this week, a quarter century of providing quality care across 25 homes. The leading residential care home provider also announced a new Chief Executive Officer, Steve White.

At a celebratory event on Thursday at Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort, Balhousie Care Group Chairman Tony Banks welcomed Steve on board while at the same time announcing plans for taking the group forward.

Steve has an impressive track record in both care services and transforming businesses. Formerly CEO of Sussex Housing & Care and Blackwood, he has also been at the leading edge of business performance and employee engagement and motivation.

Tony Banks said he would continue in his role as Chairman, while White – in a newly created role - will help take Balhousie Care Group forward and prepare for the future, focussing on innovation and continuing the person-centred approach to elderly care which the group is known for.

The re-opening this month of Balhousie Alastrean House, a state-of-the-art care home in Tarland, Aberdeenshire, and a bank refinancing provides the group with the confidence and security to implement investment in the business, their people and buildings and ensures it continues to operate a high-quality service for the next 25 years and beyond.

Steve White said:

“I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Balhousie Care Group at a strategic point in its journey of delivering excellent residential, nursing and specialist care. With initiatives such as Together We’re Great, we put people front and centre to everything we do. Now it’s time to take the skills, talents and commitment of our staff into the next quarter century.

“With the group in strong profit and having just secured re-financing from our bank partners, we are in our healthiest financial shape ever. That means we can continue to provide top quality care for our 900 residents.”

Tony Banks said:

“I’m extremely proud to be celebrating 25 years of Balhousie Care Group and delighted to be taking the business forward with Steve White in this new position of CEO. We started with one care home back in 1992 and I am delighted to stand here 25 years on with 25 care homes within our group.

“Reaching this milestone year has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and support from all of our staff. It’s been great to look back at our achievements. However, I am just as excited about our future and the opportunities that are ahead for our business and our people. Going forward, we plan to invest in the business, buy back some leased homes, and continue to invest in our environments for our residents.”

The celebrations at Piperdam were designed to recognise and reward staff for their support throughout the years with the launch of long services awards and peer recognition awards. Team members were presented with holiday vouchers for a trip of their choice.

Each Balhousie care home will hold their own internal birthday party on Thursday 14th September to celebrate the occasion with all staff and residents of the home.

Balhousie Alastrean is due to re-open this month following an extensive refurbishment programme, as a result of a fire in January 2016.
