Balhousie Care Group has appointed a new manager at its Rumbling Bridge home in Kinross, Perthshire. Angela Wallace joined the Balhousie team last month, bringing with her a wealth of experience from both a nursing and care managerial background. Angela’s career focus has always been firmly footed in all aspects of nursing care of the elderly, with the treatment of dementia and other associated conditions being a particular focus.

Angela recognises the importance of community for many of her residents and is keen to further have the local community be part of the home’s daily life. Impressed with the atmosphere already present at Rumbling Bridge, her main aim as manager is to further ‘instill a sense of stability’ for residents, relatives and staff alike. “I want service users, relatives and staff to know that moving forward, we are doing so together, as a team.”

Quality of Life

Angela views resident care, and most importantly, happiness, as key to any care homes’ success. “Our aim as a team is to bring energy and life into an already caring home. We want our residents to have a happy and fulfilling life here at Rumbling Bridge, and with the help of our activities co-ordinator Ann leading the way, we are already on our way to achieving this.”

Rumbling Bridge already has a varied and full schedule of activities available, including music, art and community-based engagement projects which have proved popular amongst residents. Engagement of residents with each other, staff and the wider community is a key focus for Angela, who feels that interaction is what makes Rumbling Bridge house feel like a home.

Balhousie Care actively encourage all of its service users to engage in various activities and events, organised by its individual care home teams. Both the social and therapeutic benefits of this interaction has long been noted amongst industry professionals and as an organisation, resident engagement is a key focus for us. Our progression as an organisation lies with the great new talent we welcome to the team and we are thrilled to have Angela on-board.
