We often hear of people reaching landmark wedding anniversaries. 50, sometimes even 60 years wed, but how often do we hear of a couple celebrating 75 years of marriage? One very special couple, Jim and Marjory Ower, are set to reach that amazing anniversary on Monday and staff at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home, where Jim and Marjory are both residents, are preparing a surprise party to mark the occasion.

Marrying during the Second World War on December 7th 1940, Jim and Marjory have seen the world change dramatically during their three quarters of a century together, from post-war Britain and the Queen’s Coronation, to the invention of the personal computer and the turn of the millennium. Another special date came earlier this year when Jim turned 100, so a great many landmark dates have been celebrated by the elderly couple.

The surprise party will include some live music, a special cake, a finger buffet and drinks for Jim, Marjory and the residents to enjoy.

Alison Miller, Home Manager at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home, commented:

“It is a privilege to be able to help Marjory and Jim have an anniversary to match up to all the many anniversaries they have enjoyed throughout their life together. It is incredible to think about all they have seen in their 75 years as husband and wife and we are delighted to be able to celebrate with them.”
