A very special anniversary is being marked at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home this week as resident, Rab Fisher is set to celebrate 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy. The Care Home team are planning a surprise party for the couple at 2pm on Friday 27th November.

Marrying in 1953, the same year as Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation, Rab and Nancy have been inseparable through six decades, from the swinging sixties, to the turn of the millennium and beyond. Now, Rab lives at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home where Nancy visits him regularly and, for the first time in their marriage, they have been separated.

The surprise party will include some live music, cake and a ‘wee tipple’ for the Rab, Nancy and the residents to enjoy.

Alison Miller, Home Manager at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home, commented:

“The whole team at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home are thrilled to be able to throw a surprise party for Rab and Nancy. 62 years married and they are still so very close with Nancy visiting Rab almost every day. We hope they have a lovely day and enjoy the surprise!

“As people get older and require the support of a residential care home, we do find that couples are on occasion no longer able to live together because the level of care they need differs. In these instances, we always work hard to bring them together as often as possible. It’s lovely to see Rab and Nancy enjoying their anniversary together along with our staff, residents and relatives.”
