Sometimes I forget

The impact of activity

On Thursday I was mapping at Luncarty House when one of the staff members brought out a face painting kit, and started encouraging the residents to paint her face.  I thought to myself that this was never going to work.  But by the end of the day a resident who I never would have thought would have been interested became very engaged with painting lines and shapes on the staff members face.

The power of engagement

After ten minutes of giggling, painting and genuine joy from both the staff and residents involved, there was a grand exchange of face paint through hugs and cuddles.

Thank you ladies of Luncarty for reminding me that the ability of our residents to experience joy is only limited by the opportunities we provide.  Well done!
