Dedicated supporters of Balhouise St. Ronan’s Care Home sported their walking shoes and marched 8 miles to raise money for residents’ funds on Saturday 7th June.

June marks the start of Scottish Summer time and with this, dawns an exciting sporting programme. Balhousie kicked off their summer events with 50 residents, relatives, staff and members of the local community taking part in the sponsored walk.

The event raised over £2000 which will go towards the homes Resident Comfort Fund. These funds are essential to support the health and well-being lifestyle adopted by Balhousie and the resident within the home. The money contributes towards day trips, activities and often home improvements including building sensory gardens for all to enjoy.

Carol Young, Home Manager at Balhousie St. Ronan’s said: “We are very grateful for the wonderful turnout. The walk was a great success and we even managed to miss the majority of the rain.”
“Our residents will really benefit from the support shown. It enables us to provide them with opportunity to enhance their quality of life. We always ask our resident how they would like to spend the money and it’s always an absolute pleasure seeing the enjoyment on their faces as we meet their needs and wants.”

After the walk, many headed to the local bar to enjoy an evening of entertainment, BBQ’s and a celebratory party. Managing Director of Balhousie, Phil Whitaker commented: “A very big thank you goes out to all those who took part in the event or sponsored those who did. We genuinely value the support we receive and I know the residents of St Ronans will be thrilled by all the generosity and support shown.”
