More Information

The very elegant Alastrean House, a dominant property in the charming village of Tarland in rural Aberdeenshire, is just off the A93 30 miles west of Aberdeen, a pleasant 7 mile drive from the delightful town of Aboyne. This is an area famed for its unspoilt beauty in the heart of Royal Deeside.

For many years Alastrean House was the Scottish showpiece of the RAF Benevolent Fund. To this day, the home still has strong and proud links with the RAF Benevolent Fund. The home has been operated by Balhousie Care Group since 2005, and is open to all residents regardless of background and an RAF connection is not required. However, some of the rooms continue to be sponsored by the RAF Benevolent Fund which can in some circumstances provide top-up funding to augment local authority payment towards care costs.

Balhousie Alastrean Care Home is set amongst beautifully maintained gardens and expansive grounds, and now provides very comfortable and impressive accommodation for 44 residents. The majority of our rooms provide en suite facilities. In addition, Alastrean House offers one double room.

Fee Information

Our weekly fee rates for full nursing care depend on individual circumstances. However, as a guide range from £550 (the Local Authority rate) and £920 per week for residents not funded by the local authority. All residents have specific care requirements and residents with higher dependency levels may incur additional fees. It is not possible to predetermine exact fee levels until a full assessment has been undertaken, following which residents will be provided with clear documentation outlining fees chargeable for their care. Charges for extras are kept to a minimum but for example the supply of personal newspapers, provision of hairdressing and so on will incur a small additional charge.
