Set in a residential area on the edge of Kirriemuir, Lisden is a beautiful, elegant listed Victorian house with spacious and immaculately kept mature gardens. It's proximity to the town with a variety of places of interest, places of worship and local shopping, enables our residents to remain part of the local community.

Kirriemuir - The Red Town - is the birthplace of J.M. Barrie author of Peter Pan, and his original home is now a small museum close to the town centre. It also has one of only 3 Camera Obscura in Scotland which allows for a panoramic view of the Angus countryside.

Balhousie Lisden was the first home in the Balhousie Group when it opened its doors to its first residents in 1992. The experienced and well trained staff (some of whom have been there since the home opened) continue to provide nursing care to a maximum of 29 residents, all of whom are able to enjoy en suite facilities to all bedrooms including the one double bedroom.

Adjacent to Balhousie Lisden House is our new specialist dementia care unit. The new purpose built facility provides a warm and homely atmosphere for a maximum of 13 residents.

Our care approach for residents in this group is to adopt a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to their care and welfare. Expert and appropriately trained staff tend skilfully to the needs of every resident.

Communication is a key factor in determining the individual needs of each resident, with our main emphasis and focus being the identification and meeting of their specific needs.

Fee Information

Our weekly fee rates for full nursing care depend on individual circumstances. However, as a guide range from £550 (the Local Authority rate) and £820 per week for residents not funded by the local authority. All residents have specific care requirements and residents with higher dependency levels may incur additional fees. It is not possible to predetermine exact fee levels until a full assessment has been undertaken, following which residents will be provided with clear documentation outlining fees chargeable for their care. Charges for extras are kept to a minimum but for example the supply of personal newspapers, provision of hairdressing and so on will incur a small additional charge.
