New Homes – New Locations – New Residents

27th November 2007

We're anticipating a busy summer of facility improvements and developments, as a number of other large capital projects get underway, all designed to improve the physical facilities and surroundings for our residents. More than £4million has been allocated to the various projects - some of which we're pleased to tell you about below.

Arbroath

In May 2007 Balhousie Care Group completed its latest acquisition by buying a 24 bedroom residential care home, “Balhousie Monkbarns” in Arbroath. This now brings the Balhousie Care Group portfolio up to fourteen homes.

Balhousie Monkbarns brings our total resident capacity up to 435. Additional capacity will be created at some of our recently acquired homes which will be released over the coming months once they have undergone refurbishment to bring them up to the high standards expected within the Group.

Also in Arbroath, we say Happy 10th Birthday to all our staff and residents at Balhousie Antiquary. This stylish care home, set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens, is much loved and enjoyed by the residents and staff alike, and has of course recently been given a major facelift and smart refurbishment, resulting in Balhousie Antiquary being we believe the most elegant and best equipped care home in the region. Here's to the next ten years everyone!

Kinross

Following months of negotiations we have received planning permission from Perth and Kinross Council to redevelop the older wing of our Nursing Home at Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, by Kinross.

We are now working with our construction & design team to finalise the plans for this home and hope to be able to announce further details shortly. Once our works here are completed we will have a fully modernised facility in a lovely secluded setting. This will provide accommodation for an additional 10 residents. The full refurbishment is expected to exceed £1m, and is a further indication of the confidence our shareholders have in the company, its' skill base and the growing demand for its services in the Perth and Kinross area.

Kirriemuir

At our Balhousie Lisden Care Home, an investment of more than £700,000 will soon provide a much needed nine bedroom extension for residents suffering from Alzheimer's/Dementia. Scheduled to open in August 2007, this will bring the full capacity at Balhousie Lisden Care Home - the first home acquired by the Balhousie Group in 1992 - to 42 registered beds.

Crieff

In November 2006, Dalnaglar Care Home in Crieff was acquired by the Balhousie Care Group, and was renamed Balhousie Dalnagar. Before the Summer is out we'll have embarked on the addition of a new wing to the home, plus a full internal refurbishment to the existing building. We'll obviously do everything we can to minimise disruption to our residents, but we're sure any mild inconvenience will eventually lead to our residents having an even smarter and more enjoyable facility to call home.

Perth

We accommodate residents with many differing care requirements within the homes in our Group, and at Balhousie Grange Balbeggie, we operate a care home for up to 32 adults with learning disabilities.

We have now approved the construction of an additional 10 bedroom unit within the grounds at Balhousie Grange, as we believe there is an undersupply of local facilities for residents within this particular care category. This project will get underway within the next couple of months.

North Grove Perth

Adjacent to one of the long established care homes in out portfolio (Balhousie North Inch) we have recently constructed the newest home in the Balhousie group, Balhousie North Grove.

This specially designed and constructed unit has been purpose built to provide accommodation to a maximum of 38 residents all needing specialised care for their Alzheimer's/Dementia condition. Very great care has gone in to providing the safest and most practical surroundings possible while recognising some of the many challenges Dementia sufferers (and their carers) face
