Job Purpose:
The overall purpose of the role of the Care Home Manager is to deliver commercial business success of the Care Home through the following:
- Management of all functions of the Care Home
- Promoting the Home within the community ensuring its standing within the community reflects the philosophy and ethos of Balhousie Care Group

- Provide input into the development of policies and procedures

Financial Management
- Ensure the financial management of the Home meets operational and statutory requirements
- Negotiate fees with the purchasing authority or the client or client's family if not in receipt of local authority assistance
- Drive increased value by delivering the best return on resources and controlling expenditure and maximising income
- Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Contribute to budget setting and maintain effective control of the Home's budget by monitoring, controlling and maintaining the flow of financial resources
- Ensure all financial reporting meets with operational requirements
Customer Focus

- Continuously seek ways to improve Balhousie Care Group's offer
- Understand changing customer demands in the care sector and both identify and develop strategies to respond to these

- Ensure all aspects of care (nursing, personal, hospitality) meet the required standards, monitoring and evaluating service provision
- Ensure that the Home is accurately staffed at all times
- Ensure that adequate arrangements are made for the introduction and reception of new residents
- Ensure that the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the residents are recognised, assessed and met
- Ensure the provision of health care arrangements which will include the ordering, recording and where appropriate administration of prescribed medication
- Develop and maintain effective means of consulting with the residents, their families and carers

Compliance and Control
- Ensure that individual needs are identified, action is planned, implemented, reviewed and recorded timeously using Personal Care Plans
- Ensure that each resident or their representative receives, completes and understands a contract of residency
- Working with the Clinical Services Manager and Hospitality Services Manager ensure all Care Homes meet Statutory, Regulatory, Audit, Compliance, Health and Safety and Security requirements
- Ensure that any problems and/or malfunction of heating, lighting or emergency systems are reported to the Maintenance Manager
- Ensure fire regulations are complied with and advise Head Office of any areas of risk
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures are established and maintained to protect residents, visitors and staff in compliance with the appropriate legislation
- Investigate complaints, take appropriate action and report to Head Office
Professional
- Ensure that the Company operates within the Care Commission requirements
- Maintain and improve your own professional knowledge, competence and registration and relevant holding regulating body (NMC, SSSC) enabling continuation in position

PERIPATETIC MANAGER

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate they can successfully balance the demands of providing support and direction to homes managers as well as contribute to corporate initiatives and policy development.
The main purpose of this job is to provide interim management at any Home within our Group and through direct intervention and practical support, improve the overall performance of any Home which is not meeting expectations, standards or requirements. The successful candidate will also be required to participate in training others in best management practice and undertaking management induction in a Home environment. You will be able to evidence having successfully managed a quality care service and have a proven track record in improving care home ratings.
You will need to be an excellent communicator with strong leadership skills. A formal care qualification (in social work, nursing or an allied profession) along with a recognised management qualification. Evidence of personal and professional development is essential.
