Our residents' preferences
Getting to know our residents and their preferences is an extremely important part of helping them adjust to their new surroundings.Understanding our residents – how they feel about the care we provide and how they want and expect us to look after them is a vital component of "The Balhousie Way".
Before a new resident arrives at one of our care homes, we like to ask a few questions to get to know them better. What are their routines, their likes and dislikes for example? We appreciate everybody is different, and by understanding each resident individually we can accommodate their personalities and preferences in a way which makes them feel truly comfortable in their new home.
We never forget that a Balhousie Care home becomes YOUR home......somewhere you can be cared for by dedicated, friendly and attentive carers and nursing staff. We never lose sight of the importance of that. Making sure a resident feels comfortable with a genuine sense of being "at home" is the most important thing that we are committed to achieving. Making a resident's bedroom truly theirs by adding a few items that are personal and familiar is just one small but important way we help bring comfort, safety, security and a retained sense of individuality into a new environment.
All Balhousie Care homes have in house kitchen facilities, with experienced chefs. Regular and nutricious meals provide residents with a healthy balanced diet. Balhousie staff are recruited because of their natural desire to care in a genuine, sincere and committed way. It is a vital necessity of understanding what "The Balhousie Way" really is all about - and being able to deliver it, to every resident, every day, in every Balhousie Care home. |

- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
