The Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) has been nominated as the charity which will be the main benefactor from the various fundraising events across the Balhousie Care Group in 2008.
"Our Staff, residents and relatives are involved in a huge fundraising effort every year." commented Managing Director, Tony Banks. "From Daffodil Teas, to Body Shop Parties, all our homes are keen to involve everyone in fun activities which will benefit a good cause. This year, for the first time, we're going to focus all our efforts on supporting CHAS as we see this as an ideal opportunity for our residents - the older generation - to be involved in making a positive contribution to younger people and their families."
CHAS is a Scottish charity established to provide hospice services in Scotland for children with life-limiting conditions.
A children's hospice offers professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family usually from the day they are referred until the death of their child and beyond.
Rachel House, Scotland's first children's hospice, opened in Kinross in July 1996. Robin House in Balloch opened in August 2005. Both hospices are purpose-built and each provides ongoing support for up to 200 families across Scotland each year. The CHAS at Home Team helps children and families in the Highlands by providing support to them in their own homes. The Team also provide homecare support to families across Scotland when they need it.
