Mr John Swinney MSP (Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth) performed the Official Opening of Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home, Pitlochry on Friday 20th February 2009. A group of invited guests attended the Opening Reception at the home.
With a development spend of over £3m, Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home is a major investment both for Balhousie Care Group and the community of Pitlochry. Adjacent to the Pitlochry Community Hospital, Balhousie Pitlochry is a 50-bed home providing nursing and residential care for the elderly. Residents enjoy modern surroundings with en-suite facilities to all bedrooms. An enclosed 11-bed Dementia Unit within Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home takes on board design recommendations from the dementia development unit at Stirling University.
The opening of Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home brings additional employment to Pitlochry and the surrounding area in a time of economic hardship. Jim Shand, Care Home Manager commented, “One of Balhousie Care Group’s main focuses is to ensure that our residents and homes integrate with the local community and to strengthen this we are developing links in Pitlochry and the surrounding area. We are confident that Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home will be viewed as a valuable asset to the Pitlochry community.”

- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
