On Friday 27th February, Balhousie Stormont Care Home received a tour visit from the social enterprise theatre company, ‘Live Wire’. The Scottish Government have commissioned a play with the company, ‘Carry on Caring’ which highlights what the National Care Standards means to service users and their families. The play is to tour around 50 day care centre and care home venues around Scotland over the next few months and Balhousie Stormont Care Home were delighted to be selected as a performance venue. Residents, relatives, staff and members of the care community were invited to attend the 30 minute performance, and encouraged to ask questions of the performers at the end.
The National Care Standards have been created by the Scottish Government to help improve the quality of life of older people receiving care services by setting national standards for the quality of care and support they receive. Whether the care is provided in a care home; a person’s own home; in someone else’s home; or is support with independent living there are National Care Standards that apply.
