It’s all Lights... Camera... Action... at Balhousie Lisden and Balhousie Pitlochry

Some of our residents might have easily thought that they were on a Hollywood film set recently as two Balhousie homes became the setting for the filming of our new TV commercials, due to air in the Autumn.

The campaign, “Care Is...” which was devised by our marketing agency, Mindshelf, took two days to film and featured many of our own staff, men and women from local Amateur Dramatic clubs plus three “professional” actors (who’s average age was actually 81 themselves).

Each scene is intended to depict very typical “caring moments” that happen in the course of a normal week at a Balhousie care home.

“For a number of sensitive and appropriate reasons we didn’t feature any ‘real’ residents as this might be interpreted as an invasion of their privacy – and we absolutely wouldn’t want that” said Ross Smith of Mindshelf. “Also, filming a TV commercial is quite an arduous event, and for the majority of our residents the day would have likely been too demanding. Interestingly though, at the time of filming the average age of a Balhousie resident was 81 and the average age of our ‘actors’ was 75 so the actors represent the resident age group very closely”.

The commercials will go out on STV North and STV Dundee from September 1st, so watch out for them on your TV!
