The residents and staff at Balhousie Lisden Care Home in Kirriemuir came together on Friday (1 February 2008) to say farewell to Kitty Smith, Manager. Kitty, who joined the Balhousie Group in April 2005 had previously worked as a Registered Nurse within the NHS and as a Care Manager with Social Work Department of Angus Council.
"I have seen a lot of change in the care of the elderly in my years with both the NHS and more recently here at Lisden", said Kitty. "However, the fundamentals of care never change and here at Balhousie Lisden, each resident is treated as a special individual. We focus on holistic care needs, promoting independence wherever possible and providing an environment that is safe, comfortable and relaxing - all qualities that facilitate feelings of worth and wellbeing."
Kitty, who has a keen interest in Classic Cars, is looking forward to spending more time enjoying her garden and holidaying in France with her husband, Alex.

Words of appreciation...
- Caring to me means fulfilling residents' needs and requirements, making them comfortable and happy in the home environment Carer at Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home
- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
- What Balhousie Care staff did was beyond the call of duty and we appreciate the work that made Mum's birthday special, even though we had to help her with the blowing out of the candles! Daughter of Resident at Balhousie North Inch Care Home
The goal of Balhousie Care Group is to be acknowledged as the leading and most admired provider of residential care in Scotland.
