BALHOUSIE LUNCARTY CELEBRATE DIAMOND JUBILEE IN STYLE
Residents, family, friends and staff at the Balhousie Luncarty Care Home are to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style when they host a 50’s themed party to mark the occasion.
The home will recreate a street party similar to those thrown on the day of the coronation, where residents and guests will celebrate with party games, food and drinks and the home will be decked out in commemorative flags and bunting.
The home, along with the help of kids from the local Honeypot Nursery, has also created a special Diamond Junilee flower bed displaying a crown which will be visible from the grounds to the local community.
As part of the celebrations staff from seven of the other Balhousie Care homes in the surrounding area have been invited to take part in a mini sports day where they will participate in a range of events to entertain residents and guests.
Tracy McEwan, care home manager at Luncarty, is looking forward to celebrating the momentous occasion.
She said: “This is going to be a very special day for the residents as most of them were youngsters at the time of the Queen’s coronation and it will be great for them to share their stories of where they were and how they celebrated back in 1952.
“The home is going to be decked in all things British, we will have a range of activities for everyone who attends and there will be some lovely food and drink being served and we can only hope for a lovely day so we can all get out in the grounds to enjoy the party.”
Balhousie Luncarty Care Home is a Victorian style property, originally the family home of the Stevensons, who owned both Stanley and Luncarty Mills.

Words of appreciation...
- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
- We have always been impressed by you all at Balhousie - especially those who directly looked after Mum's day to day personal care. Also those who kept the home clean and tidy and had pleasant chats with Mum. Daughter of Resident at Balhousie North Grove Care Home
