A large beech tree in the grounds of Balhousie Rumbling Bridge care home was to be cut down as it was extremely close to the building and was blocking out huge amounts of light to the resident's lounge. Rather than completely lose the tree, Balhousie Care Group took the decision to commission Scottish chainsaw carver, Rodney Holland of Quantum Chainsaw Carving, to create a wooden sculpture of an eagle carrying a fish, from the remaining tree stump. Rodney is well known and respected worldwide as a Master Chainsaw Carver.
Anne Murray, Manager at Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, commented that the residents of the care home thoroughly enjoyed watching Rodney at work and seeing the eagle develop over the four days it took to complete.

Words of appreciation...
- Caring to me means fulfilling residents' needs and requirements, making them comfortable and happy in the home environment Carer at Balhousie Pitlochry Care Home
- I wish to express my sincere thanks to yourself and to all the staff at Balhousie for their exceptional standard of care and their kindness Daughter of Resident at Balhousie The Glens Care Home
- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
The goal of Balhousie Care Group is to be acknowledged as the leading and most admired provider of residential care in Scotland.
