Residents, staff, relatives and visitors gathered at the Balhousie Glens Care Home, Edzell on Friday 29th August, to bid a fond farewell to Derek Henderson, Manager who is leaving to take up a new post at Balhousie Lisden Care Home, Kirriemuir.
Staff had arranged an afternoon tea party which many of the more able residents attended. Derek was presented with a silver engraved Hip flask, flowers and cards, with the local Minister, Alan Watt reading out an ode he had especially written for Derek for the occasion.
Derek commented that he was overwhelmed by the amount of people there and gave a speech in which he said that he had spent 6 happy years at the Glens, and would miss all the residents, staff, relatives and those visitors whom he had come to know from their regular visits to the Glens.

- The thing I most enjoy is the interaction with residents and family members. Being part of a team that delivers high quality care, often in the latter years of an individual's life, while trying to promote their independence is a big responsibility. I think it's hugely important to be able to make that time as easy and comfortable as possible. Manager, Balhousie Lisden Care Home
