100th Birthday Celebrations for Mrs Isabella Murdoch

Resident of Balhousie Alastrean Care Home, Mrs Isabella Murdoch celebrated a special birthday on Thursday 26th of February when she turned 100 years young. A birthday party was enjoyed by Isabella's friends and family, with a piper and musical entertainment. The cutting of the cake took place at 2.30pm, after Mrs Murdoch was presented with a Telegram from Her Majesty The Queen by Lord Lieutenant Angus Farquarson and his wife Alison.

Isabella lived in Tarland for many years before moving to Balhousie Alastrean. Born at Enzie Buckie, she moved to Edinburgh when she was 2 years old. A Girl Guide, Isabella started off working life as a Book Keeper with Imperial Typewriters. She devoted a tremendous amount of work to the church in both Edinburgh and Tarland - 22 years as a Sunday school teacher in Edinburgh, and 58 years long Service Certificate for Education and Administration with Tarland church. Isabella married her late husband David Murdoch (a gardener) in November 1952 and relocated to Tarland as David was to take up the post of Head Gardener at the McRobert Estate (of which Balhousie Alastrean is part of).
