Residents of Balhousie Care Group’s 25 homes across Scotland are looking forward to an extra special Valentine’s Day celebration this month.

At Balhousie Antiquary in Arbroath, married couples John and Margaret Rennie celebrate their lifelong romance alongside Bill and Ina Brown. Throughout the day, a variety of heart-themed crafts will help residents get in the mood. Delicious fairy cakes will be served, and musician Callum Wallace will provide a romantic soundtrack from 2.30pm.

Balhousie North Inch in Perth is having a Valentine Dance, with residents’ favourite Degsy singing hits by some of the great crooners, including Frank Sinatra. Celebrating ‘Love and Marriage’ are resident couple David and Faye McKay who were married in 1960 and have lived together at North Inch for the last 18 months.

A special lunch will be set up in the conservatory at Balhousie Lisden in Kirriemuir, to enable husbands and wives who live apart to enjoy a romantic meal together, complete with candles and music.

At Balhousie Forth View in Methil, residents will also sit down to a three-course dinner, serenaded on accordion and guitar by entertainment duo, Walter and Benita

“Ensuring that our couples have the chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day together is an important part of our person-centred approach to care,” explains Louise Barnett, Operations Director for Balhousie Care Group.

“Our dedicated Activity Co-Ordinators work with residents throughout the year to plan a full programme of events. These are often in partnership with nurseries, schools, community organisations and local performers – and provide an important opportunity for residents and their families to enjoy special times together.”
