Love is all around as Balhousie Antiquary celebrate Valentine’s Day in style

Love was all around Antiquary care home as residents, families and our care team celebrated Valentine’s Day together.  From traditional red roses and valentines day decorations, to delectable chocolate treats, there was something for all to enjoy.

Guitarist and singer, Callum Wallace, popped along in the afternoon to entertain with some well-known love songs.  Residents really enjoyed singing along, and to get the party-goers moving Calum played some good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll. Wow, our folks can move!  Residents took great delight in putting our care team to shame, as they spun our carer’s around with their nifty moves and showed them how to get up close on the dance floor.

It’s always such a joy to witness our couples embracing and sharing fond memories together, as they reflect on Valentine’s days gone by.  This year was no exception as our resident couples, Margaret and Pat, and Anne and Peter did just that, demonstrating the warmth and affection that couples enjoy, not only on this special day, but throughout their lives together.

Residents were thrilled throughout the day by visits from their loved ones; daughters, sons, grandchildren, families and friends who popped in to join in with the celebrations, and to remind their loved ones of how much they’re thought of, loved and cherished.

Choosing to live in a care home can often stir fears of losing ones independence and becoming lonely and isolated from society.  Here at Balhousie Antiquary, we understand that, and actively encourage our residents to remain as big a part of their local community as possible.  Having days of celebrations and parties provide a great opportunity to bring people together in a safe and fun environment, ensuring that not only are our residents physical needs cared for, but that their spiritual needs are cared for too.

Happy Valentines Day.
