Balhousie Caring for Young Glory
18th August 2008
Balhousie Care Group are involved in a number of local causes however this one takes us thousands of miles away from Scotland to the story of a young Tanzanian girl, Glory Lyimo who is being sponsored through her education at Marangu Hills Academy in Marangu, Tanzania.
“I met James Lyimo, Glory's father, last year when he guided a group of us on our climb up Mount Kilimanjaro.” said Managing Director, Tony Banks. “He told us about his aspirations for his children and, in particular, his desire to ensure they received the best possible education. Over my time in his company, it became apparent that the cost of education was prohibitive and I felt that sponsoring Glory to attend school would be a small gesture on our part that would have a huge impact on both him and his family.”
“Glory, who is 8 years old, was able to start school in March this year and our sponsorship covers the cost of boarding, books, uniform and pocket money.”
Balhousie Care Group are delighted to receive regular updates from Glory's family and school regarding her welfare and education. Glory’s latest exemplary school report can be downloaded by clicking here (PDF - 70.5Kb)
