01339 881235Alastrean Care Home Aboyne – Heritage Collection
I’m Caliegh Bean, Care Home Manager, and welcome to Balhousie Alastrean, regarded by many as the most impressive property in our Heritage collection. The elegant Alastrean House is a Country House of great significance and dates back to the turn of century. It is set in the charming village of Tarland, just off the A93, 30 miles west of Aberdeen, a pleasant seven mile drive from the delightful town of Aboyne. For many years Alastrean House was the Scottish showpiece of the RAF Benevolent Fund. To this day the home still has strong and proud links with the organisation. Myself and my team would be delighted to welcome you in person at Balhousie Alastrean and show you around our home. To arrange an appointment to view our home or to find out more about the care we provide please call 01339 881235 or contact me online. |

Caring for the diet of our residents and making sure they have nutritious meals is an area where you'll find our managers, our staff and most importantly our chefs extremely engaged and active.
The catering and hospitality services teams at Balhousie Care Group are constantly looking at ways we can improve our food and refreshment offerings. Recently, new menus have been introduced that have a greater content of fresh, local produce. This is part of an ongoing process of reviewing and responding to resident requests for more variety and choice.
In addition to the availability through the day of favourites such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate, our residents are also encouraged to drink a healthy amount of other fluids, including a special range of tasty squashes and refreshing fruit drinks to aid their hydration. This also makes a valuable contribution to bladder health and fitness.
By prior arrangement close family or relatives can join us at lunch or evening time to see for themselves just how tasty mealtimes at a Balhousie Care home can be.

Care Home Overview
Striking design and large, high ceilinged lounges and common areas, coupled with a beautiful mahogany panelled dining room, are the predominant architectural features of Balhousie Alastrean Care Home, which is set amongst stunning and expansive grounds, and now provides elegant and comfortable accommodation for 44 residents. The majority of resident bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Balhousie Alastrean also offers one double/companion room.
The atmosphere at Balhousie Alastrean is one of serenity, elegance and caring – something that almost every visitor feels or comments about. We have developed a wide range of enjoyable, interactive and mentally stimulating therapeutic activities for residents.
This is in addition to the obvious pleasure residents derive from living in such an elegant Country House environment.
Balhousie Alastrean Care Home has been managed by Balhousie Care Group since 2005, and welcomes all residents, irrespective of an RAF connection or not. However, some of the bedrooms continue to be sponsored by the RAF Benevolent Fund which can in some circumstances provide top-up funding to augment local authority payment towards care costs.
