Hello, I'm Anne Murray, the very proud manager of the newly refurbished Balhousie Auchterarder care home (formerly known as Ruthven Towers). Balhousie Auchterarder care home is set in tranquil, leafy grounds just off "Lang Toon". The building used to be an elegant country house hotel (Ruthven Towers) and evidence of the splendour and glamour of the former hotel is still very much part of todays architecture. The home has recently had a major renovation and now provides 51 rooms, many with stunning views over the gardens and on to the rolling Perthshire countryside. The configuration of this home also provides a number of luxury care apartments for residents requiring a little more comfort and homeliness in their care accommodation. Balhousie Auchterarder care home really is more akin to a high end hotel for the elderly rather than a traditional care home. We welcome private and socially assisted residents and offer a range of bedrooms and care packages from £550 per week. Caring for the diet of our residents and making sure they have nutritious meals is an area where you'll find our managers, our staff and most importantly our chefs extremely engaged and active.
The catering and hospitality services teams at Balhousie Care Group are constantly looking at ways we can improve our food and refreshment offerings. Recently, new menus have been introduced that have a greater content of fresh, local produce. This is part of an ongoing process of reviewing and responding to resident requests for more variety and choice.
In addition to the availability through the day of favourites such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate, our residents are also encouraged to drink a healthy amount of other fluids, including a special range of tasty squashes and refreshing fruit drinks to aid their hydration. This also makes a valuable contribution to bladder health and fitness.
By prior arrangement close family or relatives can join us at lunch or evening time to see for themselves just how tasty mealtimes at a Balhousie Care home can be.

Our weekly fee rates for full nursing care depend on individual circumstances. However as a guide, fees range from £550 (the Local Authority rate) per week. Residents may have specific care requirements and residents with higher dependency levels may incur additional fees. It is not possible to predetermine exact fee levels until a full assessment has been undertaken, following which residents will be provided with clear documentation outlining fees chargeable for their care. Charges for extras are kept to a minimum. The supply of personal newspapers, provision of hairdressing and other ancillary items will incur a small additional charge.
