I’m Cath Galbrath and it would be my pleasure to show you around our care home. Standing proudly in a dominant position above the village of Bonnybridge, this elegant and homely care facility enjoys extensive panoramic views. It is also very handy for visitors, being just 4 miles from Falkirk, 8 miles from Stirling, 20 miles from Glasgow and 20 miles from Edinburgh. Our beautiful and charming home dates back to the 19th Century. Over the years sensitive restoration has taken place so that much of the character and many of the original features still remain, including the elegant dining room and beautiful family room. Now of course Balhousie Wheatlands has all the modern features and facilities that Balhousie Care Group care homes are well known for. Caring for the diet of our residents and making sure they have nutritious meals is an area where you'll find our managers, our staff and most importantly our chefs extremely engaged and active.
The catering and hospitality services teams at Balhousie Care Group are constantly looking at ways we can improve our food and refreshment offerings. Recently, new menus have been introduced that have a greater content of fresh, local produce. This is part of an ongoing process of reviewing and responding to resident requests for more variety and choice.
In addition to the availability through the day of favourites such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate, our residents are also encouraged to drink a healthy amount of other fluids, including a special range of tasty squashes and refreshing fruit drinks to aid their hydration. This also makes a valuable contribution to bladder health and fitness.
By prior arrangement close family or relatives can join us at lunch or evening time to see for themselves just how tasty mealtimes at a Balhousie Care home can be.
Christmas Fun at Balhousie Wheatlands

Our weekly fee rates for full nursing care depend on individual circumstances. However as a guide, fees range from £550 (the Local Authority rate) per week. Residents may have specific care requirements and residents with higher dependency levels may incur additional fees. It is not possible to predetermine exact fee levels until a full assessment has been undertaken, following which residents will be provided with clear documentation outlining fees chargeable for their care. Charges for extras are kept to a minimum. The supply of personal newspapers, provision of hairdressing and other ancillary items will incur a small additional charge.

Care Home Overview
We have 59 comfortable and tastefully decorated single bedrooms - the majority of which are en-suite. Residents have the choice of five bright and spacious lounges to enjoy and where we encourage them to take their meals together. Residents who prefer to eat in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms can of course do so. There is also a relaxing patio sun terrace at the front of the house which is much enjoyed by residents and their visitors. Balhousie Wheatlands has a very popular and much loved “homely” feeling, as opposed to some care homes which can feel “institutional”. |
