Why are we making a change?

Being told you're appreciated is one of the simplest, yet most incredible things you can ever hear.”

We believe everyone should have a real voice and be heard.

In November 2015 we held a staff focus group called 'The Voice'. This was a platform where employees from across the group were given the chance to meet management and tell them how they felt about the company, the home where they work and the support they receive. The group included males and females from various homes, job roles, age groups and background.

Other feedback sessions included: 1:1 and group meetings; discussion forums and surveys.

The outcomes from this process helped us realise: 'how can we be an organisation that is truly person-centred, and deliver personalisation for our residents, if we don't apply the same values to all those who are part of Balhousie Care?'

Our actions

We thought hard about how together we could change what we heard  into real  outcomes , and so grew the 'Together we're Great' project.

Here's what it means: Getting to know you: Getting to know me

One-page profiles

We create one-page Profiles for every single employee of BCG.

  • Here we discover what's important to you as a person?
  • What makes a good day, what motivates you?
  • What are your gifts and talents, what are the positive contributions you make?
  • What do others need to know to make sure you get the best support possible?

The outcomes of this not only informs your colleagues on how to get the best out of you, it highlights your skills and talents that can be supported within your work environment. It also identifies commonalities between you, your peers, head office and the residents in your care.
